Essential Functions

Ensure the safety of all staff and patients with regard to Blood and Air Borne Pathogen exposures including the prevention, mitigation, identification and timely and appropriate response to potential exposures.
Prepare patient for the dentist including complete medical history review, note chief complaint in chart, take blood pressure and document
Expose and develop radiographs, according to standard protocols and/or dentist orders.
Assist dentist during oral exam and treatment.
Maintain dental instruments and equipment
Clean and maintain the dental operatories, sterilization and lab areas.
Stock operatories with adequate supplies at end of each day and as needed.
Assist dental hygienist when necessary and feasible.
Perform front desk duties in absence of dental office assistant or as directed by Dental Director.
Pour impressions and trim models.
Fabricate custom trays and bite rims.
Responsible for purchase orders and ordering of monthly expendable supplies, as directed.
Participate in continuing education on and off site as appropriate and feasible.
Apply sealants to teeth as designated by the dentist.
Polish teeth following prophylaxis of teeth by the dentist and give oral hygiene instructions to patients.
Take alginate impressions as designated by the dentist.
Fabricate temporary crowns and pack gingival string for crown impressions.

POSITION PURPOSE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Prepares patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping patient.
• Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
• Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient’s oral health.
• Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene or Certificate in Dental Hygiene. Registered Dental Hygienist required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge of and the ability to use basic dental office equipment and instrumentation. Knowledge of current sterilization and infection control procedures. Must possess current CPR certification. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and work in a team environment.

Carolina Family Dental Center is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist! We can fill the position as either full time or part-time working three days a week.
